Greats And Grans Day! Slideshow
Greats And Grans Day! Slideshow
Check out Maija and Mahanawai's "Greats and Grans Day" slideshow.
Ti'an and Nana
Tian and her Nana.
I love my Nana because she is my Nana and she is special. She is special because she is kind, caring and thoughtful. My Nana is an amazing cook and bakes delicious slices.
I love everything about Tian, her smile, her kind nature, her crazy sense of humour and everything that makes her Ti'an. She is a lovely, amazing girl!!
"Greats and Grans"
Nana Jean, Grandad John and Caitlin.
I love my Nana and Grandad because they are my Granparents and they are very special to me. They are kind and loving and always have a big feast at christmas, I love spending time with them.
We really enjoyed visiting Caitlin's school and seeing what she does all day. We love her very much and think she is a really caring person. We are both very proud of what she has achieved at school, and were quite amazed at how much technology she is able to deal with. It puts me, her Nana, to shame. Thanks you for a lovely day.

Our American Visitors
Today C2 was very privileged to have two visitors that travelled all the way from America to learn about New Zealand schools and how NZ teachers teach in their classes.
Kelly is from Colorado and Sheryl is from Texas. They are in Rotorua for one week. They are 3rd year student teachers and have one more year to finish their degrees.
We showed them all about Mathletics while we worked in the ICT suite.

The Te Roopu Team
Today our team is working on the iPad. We are learning to send blog posts directly from the iPad to our class blog. We are also learning about Toontastic which is a programme that helps us with our narrative writing.

Anzac Day - Poppies
C2 made poppies to commemorate Anzac Day. We learnt about John McCrae the author of Flanders Field, which was inspired when a friend of his was killed in battle in the 1st World War. The poppies grew freely around the battle grounds of Flanders Fields. They symbolise remembrance of the war and those who have fallen.

Purple Day - Supporting Epilepsy
On Monday the 26th of March it was Epilepsy Day. Our class decided to wear something purple to show awareness and support the cause. We have a student in our class who is affected by seizures and so we showed our support by wearing something purple to signify the day.
The children dressed up in all kinds of purple attire as you can see in the photos. We even had PURPLE cupcakes and they were delicious!

Cycle Safety - Fin and C2
Last week we had Cycle Safety with Mark and Patrick. It was fantastic because we learnt a lot of cycling skills and had fun as we did it. The best part of Cycle Safety was playing the Box Game. We had to pedal and stay upright on our bicycles within a very small boxed in area. | ||||||

Keegan's Fishing Battle With 'Kingie'
Last weekend, I went fishing at Coromandel close by the Mussel Farm. I had black magic snapper bait on my hook and threw the line out on to the surface of the water just to see if I would get any bites. To my surprise, a 'Kingie' (King Fish) came under the boat and took the bait. The battle began. I struggled to bring my fish in and when it came to the surface, Gary and I had trouble trying to get the 'Kingie' into the boat, but as you can see in the picture, I WON!

What are QR Codes?
We are learning about QR Codes. Q R stands for Quick Response Codes, because the codes are quick to read and they have the capacity to store a large amount of information.
You may have seen some of these codes on food labels, on posters around town where people are advertising a product or merely trying to get information across in a clever technological way.
QR codes can only be read with certain devices such as Smartphones, i-Pads and iPod Touches. You need to upload the 'Scan app' which is free and then you can use any of the above devices to read our code.
Our class worked in groups to create our own QR codes. We focused on favourite websites that we like to visit. Can you crack our codes???

Our Gorgeous Class
Woohoooooooooooooo! Mrs Norton learnt a fantastic e-learning skill today from Mrs Jamieson. She took this picture of us using Mr Norton's iPod Touch and then send it straight from the iPod to our class blog. Once she had sent it, she told us to log on to the classroom computers and check out our class blog. Sure enough, our picture was already there! Wow! Mrs Norton showed us how to do it and we will use the Blogger app more often to keep our blog updated with activities we are doing here at school.
